Golden day

I have decided to stop buying nail polish, unless it is really a color I don't own. I have already reduced my polish purchases a looooot. I am also thinking of having a blog sale, in order to purge some of the polishes, because let's face it I can't honestly use up 500 bottles of nail polish in a lifetime. So why not pass them along to somebody else, who will get more use out of them than me.

So let me know if a blog sale would be of any interest to you. I will do an international one.

Also since I have no new polishes to show you, today's post is a revisit with an old friend - Essie Playa del Platinum, and a small nail art I did ( that is if you can call it nail art).

I really love this nude. I rarely wear them, but this one looks great on small nails. I had to cut them down, because they started peeling again, and then breaking.

The accent nail is China Glaze I'm not lion, and the stamping is done with Dior Timeless Gold and my Konad stamping plate n°M78. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Revlon Popular

Hi Everyone!!
Wow two posts in a row!
The nailpolish of the day is one I won in a giveaway over on Carolina's blog. So thank you Carolina for this wonderfull polish!

It is a jelly baby pink color , with hex large and small silver glitter. The small glitter was easily spreaded on the the nail, but the larger one was a bit hard to capture from the bottle and put on the nail. I applied 3 coats, to get opacity, which is a bit more than I like to put on, so I think that it could work better layered on top of a pink polish. Although in that case you would have less glitter.

Anyways I also did a little stamping using my Bundle Monster plates BM 203 and BM 201 using a Konad polish.

Oh and I also trimmed my nails a bit, I had a little accident, and had to phile them all down.

China Glaze - I'm not lion

Ohhh this is a beauty!!! It's my favourite of all time glitters!! It has made it's way to the top very fast. It is part of the Safari collection, and it was my only choice from it. I couldn't have made a better choice.

This is a beige and holo glitter. The holo comes out in the sunlight so gloriously!!
I applied two coats for full opacity, and it went on smoothly. The application is great, and drying time is so small. The only bad thing about this is that it's a very hungry glitter, I think that not even on my third coat of topcoat the surface was still not smooth.

But when it comes to such a gorgeous polish, I am willing to overlook that.
I did some stamping with my Bundle Monster plate BM 208.

Flormar 227 + Konad

I haven't done any Konad stamping in a while, so I decided to wip out my Bundle Monster plates and chose a model. I wore this Flormar to work on monday, and I thought it was really too boring to wear on it's own.

It's a jelly nail polish, with a white almost invisible shimmer in it. I had to apply 3 coats to get it looking this way and it still has VNL, but some of you like it this way.

On top I applied a design from my BM 204 plate, with a blue Konad polish.
It kinda streaked when I put on top coat and that shows in the photos. And my cuticules are still dry as sand, don't know why, I am moisturising every day like crazy.

*****Oh and don't forget about the contest - you still have a few more days untill it's over.

How to do Konad Stamping

I have gotten quite a lot of questions on this. So I decided to do a post about it, that will go into my FAQ page.
What you need for Konad stamping is:

  • nail polish that works for stamping. You can buy special Konad polish, or you can use some of the regular polishes you already have, here is a list of those that work for stamping. If you do not own any of the polishes on the list, know that almost any metallic polish works well. This is the polish I used.

  • stamp and scraper - I have the Konad ones, and I think it is better to buy original ones for these, because I have heard that the fakes have a soft rubber and the design does not stamp well because of that
  • acetone and some cotton discs

  • cue tips - I have these special cue tips for make up retouching, these work very well for nails also.

  • The design plates - The ones in the image below are from Bundle Monster, these are very good value, 25 plates for 22$, as opposed to the Konad ones that cost 7$ each.

So what you do is soke the cotton disc in acetone and put it on some tissue, just not directly on your table. This works better on a base coat, don't apply directly on the naked nail because you risk staining and also that the design will not stay on.

You then apply the nail polish on to the chosen design like so:

Using the scraper take off the excess nail polish and wipe it on the cotton disc.

Then take your stamp and stick it on the design so you can grab the nail polish like so:

As you can see the design is now on the stamp. The next step is to carefully press the stamp on your nail. Starting from applying the polish to the design all these movements must be relatively quick so the nail polish does not dry in between moves.

After applying the design to the nail it should look like this:

Don't worry about the nail polish on the side of the nail, that will be taken care of later, with the cue tip.
After you've done all your fingers you can now dip the cue tip in acetone and remove all the nail polish on your skin.

After clean up wait a while before applying your top coat, because other wise you risk dragging the design and messing it up.

This is how it looks after clean up and before top coat:

And know let me show you what I came up with :

I used my dotting tool for the blue spots.

Pink Wednesday - Hema Diamond - 12

This is a first for me, a Hema polish!!
These are found in Hema stores, and retail for about 3€, and I find them to be very good quality nail polish. This does not have a name, or I wasn't smart enough to find it on the bottle.
It's a pink base with pink and purple shimmer. It needed 3 coats for opacity but I loved the final look.
I bought two of these, I will show you the other one on another ocasion.
The brush is good, application was easy, no problems there, and formula is similar to the Zoya Sunshine collection.
On top I applied a design from my new Bundle monster plate BM 212 with black Konad polish. I also applied a coar of Sinful Colors Glass Pink and finally came up with this:

Sorry for the crappy pictures we had some rainy days here.
And bonus a photo of Mumu sucking on a boat roap

Models Own - Golden Peach

For the first time I was able to try Models own thanx to Caroline from Caroline does nails.
This is a gorgeous orange cream base with golden shimmer in it as it's name suggests.
It's opaque in two coats, and dries off pretty quickly, application and formula is just right, and the brush is ok too. Not the best brush ever but it's ok.
Since yesterday I received my new Bundle Monster plates !!! yeyeye!! and by the way they are gorge!! I thought I'd try them out, so I applied a design from plate number BM 221 with a special Konad polish. And to top it off I did french tips with Sinful Colors - Mint apple

Pink Wednesday - Wet'n'Wild - Dreamy Poppy

Hey guys guess what it's Wednesday again, and on Wednesdays we wear pink!!
I am so loving this!!
Today's is a lovely cream bright pink I got in my swap with Carolina.
It applies a bit on the thick side but I had no problem with that, no cleaning up after either. The brush is really thin, but I like it!!
In other news I have reached 100 followers so I will be posting a giveaway soon.
On top of my ponk polish I applied some clouds with my Konad plate m79, and special white konad polish.
I really love how this turned out!!

George - Raincloud and Jackpot

Today I tested out my first George Polish, that I got in my package from Caroline over at Caroline does nails and I chose a light cream gray to be the first one.
I think these are sold in the UK in the Asda stores, for 1£.
The bottles are cute, and the brush is ok, the formula is great, and the application also, goes on smoothly, and for a cream it was pretty opaque in one coat. With a little willpower I could have gotten away with one coat.
Since this colour doesn't do anything for my skin tone, I thought I'd spice it up, and added a second George polish, which is a small silver glitter, called Jackpot. And at the end I added a design from my Bundle Monster BM 05 plate with special Konad polishes. By the way, the new Bundle Monster plates are out and you can buy them for 21,99$ here. I have already ordered them, and the delivery to France is 4$.
